Process Engineer, Superalloy Investment Casting

Location: Shenzhen, Guangdong, China (relocation) Contract: full-time employment preferred; consultancy agreement negotiable Department: Technology Center Package: up to RMB 1,000,000 per year depending on experience, plus relocation benefits

The company

Our client is a listed Chinese group specialised in superalloy investment casting for gas turbines and aero engines. It runs the whole chain in house, from master alloys to finished blades, with two R&D centres, two manufacturing sites and about 400 people, 120 of them engineers.

Its lines produce 140,000 equiaxed blades and 50,000 SX and DS blades a year, for 11 gas turbine models from 2 MW to 300 MW. The plant is equipped end to end: ceramic core and wax presses, automated shell lines, vacuum casting, core leaching, heat treatment, machining, and in-house NDT and lab testing. The company is NADCAP accredited and supplies Chinese and international gas turbine OEMs.

The role

You will own the casting process window on equiaxed blade and vane programmes, the company's current priority. The aim is clear: stable processes, fewer scrapped parts and quality that meets Western OEM requirements.

What you will do

  • Own one or more process steps from wax injection and assembly to slurry dipping, stuccoing, dewaxing and firing, vacuum melting and pouring, heat treatment and finishing
  • Set and document process parameters and keep them under control in daily production
  • Analyse casting defects (shrinkage porosity, inclusions, misruns, hot tears, grain size, core shift) and remove their causes
  • Handle non-conformances and lead root cause analysis with production and quality
  • Use data to raise yield and reduce variability
  • Support customer and supplier audits and the qualification of new parts
  • Work alongside the Chief Expert and train junior engineers on the line

What you bring

  • Degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Foundry or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years as a process engineer in nickel- or cobalt-based superalloy investment casting
  • Hands-on ownership of process parameters, not only quality inspection
  • Experience on gas turbine or aero engine blades and vanes; equiaxed experience is the priority, DS or SX is a plus
  • Knowledge of NDT methods (X-ray, FPI, ultrasonic) and their acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with ISO, ASTM or AMS standards; NADCAP or OEM audit experience is welcome
  • Fluent English

What the client offers

  • A furnished apartment near the company, with access to the company dormitory for lunch breaks and late work
  • A company car for personal use
  • Four return flights to your home country each year
  • Full support with the work visa and relocation formalities
  • Modern, fully equipped casting lines with capacity to grow
  • A site close to the sea, with easy access to the coast and to Shenzhen's food districts

Selection process

After a confidential conversation with Labora Partners, shortlisted candidates meet the client in a single remote panel interview. The final step is a visit to the manufacturing site, with flights covered by the client.

We respect the confidentiality obligations you have towards current and former employers. All applications are handled in confidence.
