Field Engineer

Work Location: Georgetown, Guyana

Onshore Field Engineer shall coordinate and monitor scheduled quayside activities, verify cargo readiness, conduct documented dropped object checks and confirm that container rigging, cargo securing, and PSV deck arrangements comply with the latest approved drawings. The engineer shall monitor lifting activities for compliance with the approved lift plan, identify and report discrepancies, support the Operations Engineer with installation aid refurbishments, and coordinate approved plan changes with quayside and vessel teams.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily quayside work against the approved operations schedule and look-ahead plan.
  • Confirm readiness of cargo, installation aids, equipment, lifting accessories, personnel, and relevant documents.
  • Monitor progress, identify constraints and report delays or potential impacts of the activities to the Operations Engineer.
  • Coordinate interfaces between the quayside lifting team and logstics team.
  • Conduct and document dropped object checks in accordance with the project checklist.
  • Inspect accessible cargo surfaces, container roofs, frames, pockets, loose covers, attachments and internal contents for unsecured items.
  • Verify cargo identification, dimensions, weight information, condition and readiness against the relevant packing list and mobilisation documents.
  • Inspect container doors, locking mechanisms and restraints.
  • Verify cargo securing and vessel seafastening against the seafsstening arrangements
  • Verify that the installed rigging matches the approved rigging drawing or arrangement.
  • Check identification, certs, capacity markings, and visible condition and color code of lifting accessories.
  • Escalate mismatches, damage, unclear markings or missing information before lifting.
  • Coordinate cargo positioning against the latest approved PSV deck layout.
  • Verify cargo IDs, orientation, footprints, landing positions and loading/discharge sequence.
  • Confirm that required dunnage, supports, and seafastening provisions are available.
  • Record discrepancies between the approved layout and actual deck condition.
  • Refer proposed changes to the Operations Engineer and vessel representatives for the required review and approval.
  • Verify that the current approved lift plan and risk assessment are available at the worksite.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and confirm that responsibilities, communications, exclusion zones and the planned load path are understood.
  • Assist the Operations Engineer with inspection and refurbishment of installation aids against approved drawings and task plans.
  • Coordinate fabrication, repair, coating and inspection activities in site.
  • Communicate quayside plan changes promptly to all affected parties.
  • Ensure the latest approved drawings and plans are being used.
  • Any other dutues assigned.
