Position Summary

The Senior Project Solutions Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting Maccaferri USA's expansion into the North American market by overseeing the end-to-end management of engineered product projects. This position focuses on delivering technical and commercial excellence, ensuring projects align with business objectives for growth and profitability. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director NAM, the role involves managing one direct report (Solutions Manager) and collaborating extensively with a network of Maccaferri Area Sales Managers, as well as occasional interactions with distribution customers. The Senior Project Solutions Manager will be responsible for the NAM market, requiring strong leadership in project estimation, documentation, tracking, sales coaching, support, forecasting, and closing to accelerate product adoption and revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Estimation: Lead the development of accurate cost estimates for engineered product solutions, incorporating material, labor, and logistical factors to ensure competitive pricing and alignment with market expansion goals.
  • Document and Drawing Preparation: Oversee the creation and review of technical documents, engineering drawings, and specifications using software such as AutoCAD or similar tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Project Tracking: Implement robust tracking systems to monitor project progress, milestones, and deliverables, utilizing project management tools to identify risks and ensure timely execution.
  • Project Sales Coaching: Provide guidance and training to Area Sales Managers and the direct report (Solutions Manager) on selling engineered products, including value proposition development, objection handling, and negotiation strategies to enhance sales performance across the NAM market.
  • Project Support: Offer technical and operational support throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize solutions for customer satisfaction.
  • Project Forecasting: Analyze market trends, pipeline opportunities, and historical data to forecast project volumes, revenues, and resource needs, contributing to the overall business plan for product expansion.
  • Project Closing: Manage the final stages of projects, including contract fulfillment, invoicing, and post-project reviews to ensure successful handover, client feedback integration, and repeat business opportunities.
  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor one direct report (Solutions Manager), setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and fostering professional development.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Build and maintain strong relationships with Maccaferri's network of Area Sales Managers to align on project strategies; engage occasionally with distribution customers to address inquiries and promote engineered products.
  • Market Expansion Support: Contribute to the business plan by identifying opportunities for new product introductions, participating in trade shows, and providing insights on competitive landscapes in the NAM region.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in project management within the civil engineering, construction, or geosynthetics industry, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role. Proven track record in estimating, sales support, and project delivery for engineered products.

Skills

  • Strong technical proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
  • Excellent analytical skills for forecasting and estimation, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills for coaching sales teams and interacting with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of North American market regulations, standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO), and industry trends in engineered solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
