For our HQ in Zola Predosa (BO), we are looking for a R&D Membrane & Chemistry Scientist, reporting to the R&D Membrane & Chemistry Manager.
The eligible candidate will plan and execute defined development activities with increasing autonomy. The role connects practical laboratory/pilot execution with data analysis, technical conclusions, documentation and support to troubleshooting or lifecycle activities.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Project Execution
- Plan and execute assigned experiments, tests or work packages according to project objectives.
- Translate technical objectives into practical experimental plans under manager or senior guidance.
- Track activities, priorities, samples, data and deliverables within the assigned scope.
Development and Evaluation
- Prepare, evaluate and compare materials, formulations, samples or process variants.
- Assess how changes in material, process or handling affect product performance and robustness.
- Coordinate or perform relevant characterization and performance testing.
Troubleshooting Support
- Investigate defined technical issues and document observations, hypotheses and results.
- Support root-cause analysis with reliable data and practical technical input.
Documentation
- Prepare technical summaries, graphs, experimental records and reports with adequate traceability.
- Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples, equipment, methods and results.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Biotechnology with strong chemistry/materials content, or related field.
Experience
- Typically 2–5 years of relevant R&D, laboratory or industrial technical experience.
- Experience with materials, formulations, coatings, membranes, filtration or chemical processing preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Good understanding of chemistry, materials science or chemical engineering principles.
- Laboratory testing and experimental planning.
- Data analysis and technical conclusion writing.
- MS Office, especially Excel.
- Safety, sample traceability and documentation awareness.
Soft Skills
- Analytical and curious mindset.
- Ability to work independently on defined tasks.
- Attention to detail and time management.
- Team-oriented communication and working English.
Nice to Have
- Membrane formation, phase inversion, coating/casting, rheology, filled polymer systems or extractables/leachables exposure.
The annual compensation range for this position is €28,000 - €33,000, with additional benefits.
This compensation range has been determined based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the scope of the role, required skills, relevant professional experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility.
