Saipem Offshore Construction (SOC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saipem S.p.A. SOC brings together all operational activities in Italy related to fabrication, technical services, maintenance, and logistics, providing essential support for the execution of offshore construction and offshore wind projects.
Purpose of the position: As Welding Technologie Engineer you will be part of the Offshore E&C/Asset Based Service Business Line. The Welding Technologie Engineer is part of Pipeline Technologies Group which includes Welding, NDT, Field Joint Coating and Weld Integrity disciplines. The Pipeline Technologies Group offers internal services for welding, NDT and Field Joint Coating to Saipem projects.
The Welding Technologies Engineer (WTE) is responsible for the welding operations offshore/onshore. He ensures the quality and the productivity are achieved in compliance with project requirements (Company specifications and applicable international standards) and approved project welding procedures.
Onboard/On site, the WTE leads the welding team (Welder Foreman, Welders, Beveling machine operators, Welding Equipment technician), and coordinates with the NDT and Coating disciplines.
The WTE is accountable for the welding productivity and quality. The accountable KPIs are the critical welding cycle time, rejection rates and mechanical breakdown of welding equipment. WTE is also responsible for the readiness of the welding activities, welder qualifications.
The Welding Technologies interface with the Welding management team in back office, with Project Welding Service Lead, with Offshore Construction manager onboard and Fabrication manager onshore.

What are we looking for?
Education: Master's Degree/bachelor’s degree in: Mechanic , Metallic Materials and/or Welding
Background: 3 years as experience in welding field is a plus
Languages: English speaking, reading, writing
Technical/IT Knowledge: Microsoft Office package
What else should you know? The position will start with an intensive training on our Saipem Welding systems – GMAW, and PAW – plus our standard welding procedures for Carbon steel pipes, Corrosion Resistance Alloys for standard pipelines or Fatigue sensitive pipeline. You will receive detailed training on all our welding equipment. The training will take place in Saipem Romania for a period of 12 months minimum.
