THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Bio-logic Research unit is coordinated by Prof. Paolo Netti. The research focuses on the quantitative integration and correlation of multimodal datasets generated from advanced in vitro systems, with particular emphasis on identifying relationships between electrophysiological, structural, imaging, and biochemical readouts. The activity will contribute to the development of data-driven approaches for the identification of quantitative patterns and functional signatures associated with physiological and disease-relevant conditions.

Main tasks:

  • Analysis and processing of electrophysiological data acquired from interconnected neural in vitro models
  • Development of computational approaches for data correlation, feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and identification of relevant patterns across heterogeneous datasets
  • Correlation of electrophysiological readouts with structural, imaging, biochemical, and functional parameters
  • Development and application of statistical and data-driven approaches for the identification of multimodal signatures associated with different experimental conditions

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines
  • Documented experience in quantitative data analysis, statistical analysis, and integration of heterogeneous datasets
  • Experience in the development and implementation of computational approaches for data correlation, feature extraction, pattern recognition, and multivariate analysis
  • Experience with the analysis and interpretation of complex, multidimensional, or multimodal datasets
  • Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis using Python, Matlab, or equivalent computational tools
  • Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience with multivariate statistics, dimensionality reduction, clustering, correlation analysis, or data fusion approaches is considered a plus
  • Knowledge of machine learning or data-driven modelling approaches for the identification of patterns and predictive relationships
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
  • Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • A yearly gross salary ranging between 25.000,00 and 30.000,00 euro
  • Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
