THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Bio-logic Research unit is coordinated by Prof. Paolo Netti. The research focuses on the quantitative investigation of functional communication within interconnected neural in vitro systems, with particular emphasis on the analysis of electrophysiological signals and network dynamics. The activity will contribute to the characterization of how neuronal activity propagates across interconnected neurospheroids and how functional connectivity is established and altered under physiological and disease-relevant conditions. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Analysis and processing of electrophysiological data acquired from interconnected neural in vitro models
  • Quantitative characterization of neuronal activity, signal propagation, synchronization, and functional connectivity across interconnected neurospheroids
  • Development and application of computational approaches for network reconstruction and analysis of connectivity patterns
  • Correlation of electrophysiological parameters with structural and functional features of neural in vitro models

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines
  • Documented experience in signal processing, time-series analysis, and quantitative data analysis
  • Experience in the development and implementation of algorithms for signal processing, feature extraction, pattern identification, and data interpretation
  • Experience with the analysis of complex, multichannel, or high-dimensional datasets
  • Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis using Python, Matlab, or equivalent computational tools
  • Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience with multivariate signal analysis, correlation analysis, network analysis, or graph-theoretical approaches is considered a plus
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling, machine learning, or data-driven methods for the analysis of dynamic systems
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
  • Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • A yearly gross salary ranging between 25.000,00 and 30.000,00 euro,
  • Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
