Purpose of the position: The Engine Room Technician is responsible for executing and controlling complex operations, monitoring machinery, and ensuring rigorous surveillance and maintenance of all Engine Room equipment under leadership guidance. This role guarantees that systems operate according to technical specifications, prepares machinery for start-up and shutdown, performs specialized workshop fabrication/welding, and executes complex maintenance across the production unit and reports to Maintenance Superintendent

 

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:

  • Execute and control complex engine room operations, ensuring continuous monitoring, strict surveillance, and meticulous maintenance of all machinery under supervisory guidance.
  • Guarantee that all systems function according to technical specifications and immediately report any non-conformance or anomaly to the direct supervisor.
  • Prepare Engine Room systems and machinery for Start-up and Shutdown procedures, adhering strictly to company protocols and safety regulations.
  • Perform welding tasks, operate metal treatment equipment, and machine or fabricate complex replacement parts in the workshop whenever required.
  • Conduct complex mechanical interventions and maintenance routines on equipment located in the Engine Room and across other areas of the production unit.

 

What are we looking for?

Education: Technical High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering (Nautical Sciences - Machinery), or an equivalent field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 to 6 years of proven experience in an Offshore environment (e.g., FPSO, Drillship, or Platform).

Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory (required for daily communication, technical manuals, and reporting).

Technical Skills: Expertise in overhauling, troubleshooting, and laser aligning pumps, compressors, purifiers, and auxiliary marine engines.

Advanced capability in reading circuit diagrams, fault-finding, and repairing high-pressure hydraulic packs and pneumatic control valves.

Proficiency in operating workshop machinery (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to manufacture and modify complex mechanical parts.

Rigorous execution of mechanical isolations and safety boundary placements before breaking containment.

IT Skills: Proficiency in logging work orders, tracking PM (Preventive Maintenance) schedules, and checking spare parts inventory using software like SAP PM, Maximo, or AMOS.
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for compiling technical shifts handovers, daily logs, and maintenance failure reports.

 

What else should you know? All applicants must reside in Angola and possess a valid residence card, as Saipem is unable to offer sponsorships.
