THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with shared research goals. The main mission of Computational and Chemical Biology Research Unit is to develop innovative computational tools and algorithms to accelerate the discovery of novel, improved medicines. A further strategic asset of our research line is the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel lead candidates for cancer, with a particular focus on visceral oncological disorders. The team comprises a core of computational scientists who work in close collaboration with chemists and biologists towards interdisciplinary goals in drug discovery. The successful candidate will play a significant role in developing and applying computational approaches to biophysical and drug discovery-related issues.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. degree and experience in computational chemistry, computational drug discovery, data science, and computational science
  • Substantial previous experience in docking, structure-based drug design, molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling methods, Monte Carlo simulations, machine learning/AI, and knowledge in quantum chemical calculations.
  • Deep knowledge of the drug discovery process
  • Capability to understand and interpret experimental data from in vitro and in vivo pharmacological assays to molecular and structural biology
  • Multidisciplinary background or Ability/willingness to integrate within a multidisciplinary research group
  • Excellent communication skills in English, as well as marked enthusiasm for research and creativity, are mandatory
  • The ability to properly report, organize, and publish research data

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python and/or C/C++ is highly desirable
  • High motivation to learn
  • Good priority management

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • A yearly gross salary ranging between 30k€ and 33k€
  • Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract.

  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
