The role:
We are looking for a Vehicle Safety Performance Engineer to join our headquarters at Sant’Agata Bolognese (BO), you will hierarchically report to the Head of Biw Structures & Vehicle Safety and functionally to the Coordinator of Vehicle safety.
You will be responsible to define passive requirements during product development and support R&D structures with recommendations on vehicles safety issues (Vehicle Safety, Crash & Rollover performance, Safety System - air bag, safety belt, sensors, etc.). Moreover, you will plan and organize vehicle safety tests, analyse results and address issues to competent functions.
You will be responsible to perform the following activities during product development process:
• To support Vehicle Safety Development phase with requirements related to new safety requirements;
• To support Concept, Design, since the first phase of a new project, with technical recommendation on safety parameters (shapes, dimensions of parts, lay out,…) in terms of passive safety;
• To give technical support during suppliers/partners selection for vehicle safety systems (passive: e.g. air bag, seat belt, etc.);
• To interact with R&D organizational units since concept phase (BIW-Trim, Chassis, Powertrain, Electric-Electronics, Concept Development etc.) in order to give supports during the engineering phase on safety requests;
• To manage technical safety problems during prototypes and Pre-series development phases in cooperation with suppliers/partners;
• To define number and type of crash and other tests (depending on models): steering of external and internal resources, updating of data systems for crash simulations and electronic parameters;
• To take part to crash tests and other tests (for proto and series components) within the Group and to analyse results by identifying – where needed - possible engineering changes with the support of relevant R&D organizational units;
• To take part to validation processes with external authority or to prepare selfcertification accordingly with specific Countries laws (safety tests as parts of overall homologation tests);
• To held relations with external partners, for safety requests, during development and validation tests;
• To plan and scheduling activities in order to respect the overall project timing (by managing the trade off between time and costs).
