SURVEY ENGINEER

Mission

▪ Install, test and operate Survey and Positioning equipment which may include, but not be limited to: GNSS and differential correction receivers, echo-sounders, gyrocompasses, motion reference units, bathymetric systems, cross profilers, pipe- and cable-trackers, USBL/LBL acoustic positioning systems, INS, Doppler Velocity Logs, digital video systems, peripherals (printers, remote monitors, etc.)
▪ Conduct regular maintenance of both online and standby equipment to ensure operational Readiness

Tasks

▪ Plan survey IT and networks for installation and conduct or supervise installation activities
▪ Plan, undertake and maintain all survey and positioning equipment
▪ Undertake fault-finding and repairs of survey and positioning equipment as required
▪ Test systems and prepare them for shipment to vessels
▪ Liaise with marine crew with regard to deck operations and equipment installation
▪ Liaise with third parties and ensure all necessary documentation and permissions are obtained
▪ Conduct vessel mobilization and demobilization of Survey and Positioning systems
▪ Customize Survey and Positioning systems to b etter meet survey requirements
▪ Ensure safe installation of Survey and Positioning systems and cabling in order to not represent a hazard
▪ Quality control results, analysis and interpretation of data obtained through survey systems
▪ Ensure availability of all equipment calibration documentation
▪ Maintain a register of equipment failures and software bugs and issue NCRs to the QHSE Department
▪ Maintain an accurate inventory of all Survey and Positioning equipment, spares and consumables
▪ Ensure consumables are maintained at suitable levels
▪ Ensure that clear and accurate online survey logs are maintained
▪ Produce the survey operational log for use in daily reports
▪ Assist with the execution of land surveys using Total Station and GNSS
▪ Quality control positioning and data acquisition systems
▪ Conduct observations of seawater parameters in order to determine the speed of sound in seawater
▪ Provide technical support to Project Surveyors
▪ Liaise with third party provider of DGNSS signals, Survey and Positioning systems and Survey software
▪ Conduct all activities following Company Procedures and Work Instructions
▪ Participate positively in safety meetings, project risk assessments and tool box talks
▪ Perform risk assessments and tool box talks in the course of day-to -day activities
▪ Adhere to Company safety, health and enviromic Requirement for Surveyors Working in the Offshore Survey Sector)
