THE ROLE

The assignment is based on IIT's need to implement research and experimentation activities related to computer vision and robotics within the EU funded "AUTOmated enriched digitalisation of Archaeological liThics and cerAmics" (AUTOMATA) project. This project aims to develop an automated, multisensory platform for scanning small-scale cultural heritage objects.

Research Activities:

As a team member, the selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be to enhance CCHT’s expertise in optimizing robotic arm paths for performing 3D hyperspectral scanning on Cultural Heritage artifacts (e.g., pottery and lithics). This digitalization process will be seamlessly integrated into a comprehensive perception, sensing, and digitalization pipeline.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in Computer science or another related  field (e.g. Engineering, etc.) – completed or near completion;
  • Experience in 3D modelling of finite elements and/or in the 3D computer vision field and/or in robotics control;
  • Practiced software development in Python.
  • Proficiency in English language (written and oral). 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Familiarity with diverse data fusion;
  • Proficiency with programming languages (e.g. Python and MATLAB);
  • Proficiency with frameworks like ROS.
