YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where mechanical, electrical, software engineers and robotics experts collaborate to carry out common research. You will join the Humanoid Sensing and Perception research unit and contribute to the project ergoCub-2.0, a joint project between IIT and INAIL (https://ergocub.eu/). INAIL, the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, is an Italian public non-profit entity whose goal is to safeguard workers against physical injuries and occupational diseases. The research in this project aims to develop humanoid robots that can monitor and collaborate with workers to reduce the number of musculoskeletal diseases related to biomechanical risk in future workers

Within the team, your main responsibilities will  be:

  • Develop algorithms for bimanual control of object manipulation and object carrying;
  • Develop methods for designing and executing robot tasks;
  • Participate in the field test and experimental validation.

This open position/research is funded by INAIL within the project: “ErgoCub-2.0 - Gestione integrata, predittiva e responsabile dei profili di rischio nei nuovi contesti lavorativi ibridi: collaborazione uomo-robot e intelligenza artificiale” (CUP J53C24000540005)

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines;
  • Strong motivation to work with real robotic systems;
  • Good knowledge of programming languages such as, C/C++, Python;
  •  Good communication skills and ability to cooperate within a team;
  • Good command in spoken and written English

EXTRA AWESOME

  • Experience in robot control, grasping and or machine vision;
  • Knowledge of development tools (e.g. CMake and GIT);
  • Knowledge of open source robotics software, simulators (e.g. Gazebo) and middleware (e.g. ROS/YARP);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Strong problem solving attitude;
  • High motivation to learn;
  • Spirit of innovation and creativity;
  • Good in time and priority management;
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
