THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Artificial and Mechanical Intelligence Research Unit is coordinated by Dr. Daniele Pucci. The research combines theoretical investigations with real-time practical implementation on real hardware and embedded electronics. 

We are seeking to appoint a full-time research fellow interested in the general topic of Robotics and AI to join our team to improve the state of art in humanoid robotics for physical human-robot interaction and wearable sensors. In particular, you will be working in the context of the ergoCub project (https://opentalk.iit.it/con-il-progetto-ergocub-di-inail-e-iit-la-robotica-e-al-servizio-della-prevenzione/), a joint collaboration between INAIL (https://www.inail.it/cs/internet/istituto/struttura-organizzativa/uffici-centrali/dipartimento-di-medicina.html) and IIT.

Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • develop algorithms, methods or technologies for the Artificial and Mechanical Intelligence cutting-edge robotics research lab
  • support the activities of the research line

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in one of the following areas: robotics, control engineering, artificial intelligence, mechanical engineering, software engineering, electronic engineering, biomedical engineering, wearable robotics, or any other related field to robotics and AI
  • Very good academic track record
  • Creative, proactive, and collaborative attitude
  • Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience with robotics experimental systems
  • Experience with machine learning tools
  • Experience with robot dynamics, control and estimation
  • Experience with programming languages (C++, Python, MATLAB), and middlewares (e.g., YARP, ROS)
  • Experience with GitHub or other code versioning tools
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
  • Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • Competitive salary for international standards 
  • Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
