Head of Global Supply Chain Planning and Logistics

Responsible to define, implement and monitor overall supply chain planning and logistics strategy and program on short-mid and long term, ensuring global material flow strategies in alignment with the commercial need, local and global, as well as the corporate global objectives related to customer service level, cost efficiency, and inventory optimization.

The position leverages on digital tools, structuring and managing the global S&OP as far as the punctual local needs, and acts as a key liaison between regional leaders and corporate strategy, driving decision-making to balance regional priorities with corporate objectives, mitigating risks, and deliver an integrated and agile global planning and logistics processes.

 

Main Responsibilities:

SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING AND LOGISTICS STRATEGY MANAGEMENT

  • Support the COO in defining the evolution of the manufacturing footprint and capacity and collaborate with the regional leadership teams to align global supply chain planning and logistics with the corporate vision and business objectives.
  • Defines and implements production capacity, logistics and transports strategy and programs, translates it into operative projects and execution plan, ensuring the fulfillment of demand by aligning it with technical and resource capacities, accordingly with the assigned targets and performance.

SALES & OPERATIONS PLANNING (S&OP) MANAGEMENT, PRODUCTION AND SUPPLY PLANNING

  • Oversee the orchestration of the global Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment across supply and demand planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain global production planning frameworks, allocating volumes to plants and third-party suppliers to balance customer demand, cost optimization, and capacity constraints working with the other functions involved at corporate and regional level.
  • Define and monitor global service targets from manufacturing plants to trading companies, and/or end-customers, working with regional sales and operations teams.

INVENTORY AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

  • Establish global inventory strategies and targets, working closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations to align stock levels with business needs.
  • Develop and oversee operational inventory targets for both finished goods and raw materials working with the other relevant functions involved.
  • Maintain global standards for make-to-stock products and ensure alignment of inventory targets across regions and plants, optimizing the coverage strategy minimizing the obsolescence and guaranteeing the customer service level required.

LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT

  • Define global requirements and volume baselines for purchasing logistics services (e.g., warehousing, transportation), collaborating with procurement teams to select and qualify logistics providers.
  • Ensure logistics providers meet global technical standards and support the alignment of regional logistics operations with corporate objectives
  • Drive the evolution of the global warehouse footprint, overseeing strategic projects related to warehouse location, capacity, and efficiency.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Define and track global supply chain KPIs, monitor and analyze supply chain planning and logistics performance at global level using data and metrics.
  • Identify and monitor potential supply chain risks and bottlenecks and propose initiatives to remove or mitigate them with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Foster cross-regional collaboration to define, share, and implement supply chain best practices, driving consistent global standards.
  • Promote and execute corporate-wide initiatives for supply chain optimization, including digital transformation projects and IT tool standardization working with ICT teams.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT (IF APPLICABLE)

  • Plans, organizes, manages, coaches and develops assigned staff, ensuring the effective talent management, career path development and training, drives commitment and engagement.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT

  • Define and manage the annual budget in line with the company’s financial and strategic objectives

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in supply chain, planning, or logistics roles with at least 5 years in a global leadership capacity.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-regional supply chain optimization initiatives.
