We are looking for an ambitious Construction Manager Pipeline / Onshore with a proven experience in the offshore, shipbuilding or construction industry to co-ordinate the pipeline project construction activities, both performed by subcontractors or in DH, supervising multidisciplinary construction works according to contract requirements and project objectives.

As part of the Operations Department you will ensure that the work scope is properly prepared and planned such that installation activity can be performed safely, within time and budget, and in line with Saipem’ standards and requirements

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as primary interface between office project team and site team, including regular (site) visits for preparations and execution of installation works
  • Manage subcontractors involved with installation execution works
  • Co-ordinate with other internal Engineering Managers for timely delivery of the work packages inline with the installation schedule
  • Ensure outstanding project safety and quality performance
  • Implement installation cost reductions and continuous improvement activities
  • Expedite actual progress with vendors and subcontractors
  • Ownership of scope of work, schedule and budget, including monthly progress reports for the Project Manager
  • Identify and timely communicate changes and deviations from the original bid with the Project Manager and recommend course of action for own scopes
  • Identify and review concessions, variation order requests and changes to subcontracts
  • Lead a multi-disciplinairy support team • Monitor installation engineering
  • Review vendors’ and subcontractors’ qualification, verification, inspection and testing plans
  • Discuss technical requirements and quality issues with vendors and subcontractors in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Check availability, status, completion and correctness of required goods, services and documents
  • Initiate technical constructability and installation ability reviews related to own scopes
  • Ensure smooth transition between different project phases and functional handover

 

The most important points which candidate should be familiar with:

  1. Construction works at the landfall/nearshore area such as
    1. Causeway constructions
    2. Sheet piling works
    3. Onshore/nearshore excavation works and associated surveys
  2. Familiar with pipeline shore pull operation including installation of the pulling wire between the beach based pulling winch and laying barge positioned in nearshore
  3. Familiar with pipeline survey works after pulling
  4. Familiar with nearshore backfilling works after installation
  5. Familiar with various light lifting works, preparation, detailing of specific task plans and associated Job Safety Analysis
  6. To manage all landfall construction, survey and other works according to Project schedule and Project documentation
  7. Potential assistance to pipeline Tie-In works between onshore and offshore pipeline sections
  8. Assistance to the pre-comminissioning works in later stage of Project

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Preferably MSc or BSc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ within offshore engineering, shipbuilding or a similar position in a construction company
  • Excellent cost awareness and negotiating skills
  • Good knowledge of logistic rules and principles on which immigration, customs and importation / exportation laws of countries where operations take place are based.
  • Pragmatic approach
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.
  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions.
