As Vessel Operation Engineer Expert, you will join our Department TLOFFOP1/Function Offshore Operation, in the business line Asset Based non Services, conducting the following activities:

The Vessel Operations Engineer (VOE) assists the Project Operations Manager (POM) in planning the activities related to Operations during T&I Projects and Tenders.

The VOE may cover a lead role in tenders depending on experience. The position involves the effective administration, planning and execution of operations, through the coordination of a multi-disciplinary effort. This role suits those with a passion for being on the front line and making things happen.

The VOE is accountable to the Project Operations Manager (POM) for the safe and efficient execution of all agreed scopes during projects, in accordance with planning constraints, associated cost envelope and quality requirements.

The VOE is also accountable to support tenders for T&I interfacing with the Tender Lead, Logistics, Planners and Estimators, Engineering, Fabrication, Pipeline Technology in order to produce the required deliverables for the leanest and most efficient offer.

MISSION:

  • Provide engineering reviews, address operation, advise (directly and indirectly) best practices both in the tender and in the projects to the Project Operation Manager (or delegate) to assist in the achievement of project/tender objectives, according to the plan/procedures developed by the engineering project team.

TASKS:

▪ Work in staff with the Project Operation Manager (or delegate) and report to him

▪ Be assigned to a Project teams/Tender Teams or a group of projects

▪ Review project documents and drawing reporting to Project Operation Manager (POM) errors and omissions with respect to the job to be carried out, Be able to suggest modifications and changes leading to improvements taking into account the suggestions of the vessel operations management

▪ Assist and support as instructed by the POM in liaising with Client Representatives and subcontractors

▪ Assist the POM in monitor the progress of the work and site conditions and promptly advise the POM in any development that may result in changes to the project schedule and/or execution sequence

• When onboard the installation vessel support the Vessel Management Team regarding planning and execution of the work and of contractual and technical requirements of the project

• Participate to the resolution of any technical problems that may arise during the offshore campaign

• Supervise on behalf of the POM the execution of diving, precommissioning, post trenching and hook-up

• Provide operational input and support to onshore project teams throughout both the onshore and offshore phases of projects.

• Liaise with the Installation Engineers on operational matters during preparatory phase, mobilisation and during installation phase

• Review Installation procedures, loadout and seafastening plans for the transportation of material and structures to the offshore site to ensure safe and timely installation

• Ensure completeness of lists for construction materials and consumables and liaise with Project Coordinator for timely procurement and delivery

• Coordinate with Mobile Equipment, Asset, Piptec, ROV, Trenching, precommissioning, Hook-up, etc. as applicable to ensure that all the necessary personnel and equipment are timely available for the project

• Identify any deviations from procedures and manage the through the appropriate process

• Coordinate with Fabrication Dept for loadout of fabricated structures and installation aids

• Lead sequential project planning efficiency optimisation, i.e. installation aids re-use, tensioner pad change-outs, equipment mob / demob, ROV tooling consistency as required

• Identify any deviations from procedures and manage the through the appropriate process

• Be involved as required in project HAZIDs/HIRAs and Track of tasks detailed in the procedures

• Verify that the considered schedules reconcile with the present vessel productivity, in the actual situation of readiness

• Assist with the management of all project specific third-party contractors confirming all technical & operational aspects of the contract are observed

• Provide technical assistance to all offshore personnel to permit work to be implemented in accordance with approved procedure to the company’s minimum standard

• Provide all necessary technical briefings to offshore personnel ensuring that the overall working and safety philosophy of the project is fully understood by offshore personnel

• Assist in the mobilisation/demobilisation of vessels to ensure that all equipment is handled in the correct manner and everyone involved is aware of all safety and technical aspects of the mob/demob

▪ Verify that the considered schedules reconcile with the present vessel productivity, in the actual situation of readiness

▪ Verify that the suggested procedures are correct and that the most efficient and cost effective solutions are followed

▪ Confront himself with the vessel management for all most critical subject in order to assure a correct transfer from the engineering to the actual installation

▪ Prepare and Record / Participate in the completion of feedback reporting, (Lessons learnt, Offshore debriefs, end of project reporting) during the development to ensure the knowledge management through a specific ICT instrument developed for the scope

• Provide technical support to commercial and tendering department as required, in reviewing documentation or during bid activities

• Coordinate and consolidate all inputs from multiple disciplines (Operations, Asset, Engineering, etc.) to support the development of the commercial proposal, as required.

QUALIFICATION: Engineering

KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE: B2

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3-5 

IT SKILLS: Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project

SOFT SKILLS: A strong work ethic, willing to working in highly changeable environments, meeting tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality outcomes. Skilled in the co-ordination of multiple interfaces across functions.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Extensive offshore experience having worked onboard pipelay/construction vessels (ideally previously Field Engineer or similar).
  • Knowledge of subsea construction, onshore fabrication recommended.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to HSE and keen to promote safe practices.
  • Committed to collaborative working in a multi-location team environment.
  • Good understanding of saipem products, activities and assets.

LOCATION: Fano (PU) Italy. Mobility to travel to all international locations for short business trips or missions.
