Technology development engineer

As Technology development engineer, you will join the team pipelines technologies innovation in the business line Asset base services, supporting in the following tasks:

 

Tasks include but are not limited to:

 

  • in charge of the realization of automated process equipment/technology normally from the need collection stage to the detail design stage for a final utilization in pipeline welding, field joint coating/coating or non-destructive testing applicationsincluding intermediate activities such as testing, (pre-)prototyping, conducting POC’s and demonstrations etc
  • act in cooperation with external suppliers that materially execute the work (normally detail design, construction till FAT) and that require continuous monitoring and control: the resource shall be in charge in collaboration with other team members, going into the technical details of the equipment/process as required, interfacing with colleagues and internal clients and reporting to upper management
  • apart from external suppliers management, it is required to interface with different departments of Saipem (e.g. procurement, post-order, tendering etc), therefore demonstrated coordination skills are required
  • role’s responsibilities will also include the involvement in R&D and innovation activities in various forms, mostly as a team member
  • has demonstrated capabilities in mechanical design/automation engineering: ability to read a mechanical drawing, manipulate (e.g. first-order modifications) a 2D/3D drawing such general assemblies or mechanical part drawings
  • has ability to read and understand, apart from the above:
    • P&ID’s, electrical system drawings, single line diagrams, pneumatic/hydraulic circuit drawings etc
    • it is required to have as a minumum intermediate skills in 2D and 3D mechanical drafting including the capability to make basic sketches of a basic engineering type and level
    • control system architecture drawings/schemes and similar
  • is proactive, also a self-starter, undertaking the necessary responsibilities, being an excellent team-worker, having problem solving attitude and an inclination toward solutions and also problem analysis
  • has demonstrated communication and coordination skills are required
  • the candidate has preliminary work experience, ideally 1-3 years in non-dissimilar contexts and is willing to undertake new challenges he/she wants to measure up against
  • is passionate about technology including its development and improvement with a flexible mind-set and ability to quickly switch contexts
  • is familiar with workshop and production environments, does not mind a direct involvement in shop-floor activities
  • has experience is use or working principles of ancillary equipment such as generators, compressors, machining systems etc

QUALIFICATION: Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. Technical diplomas with significant experience considered.

KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Good knowledge of English both written and spoken (at least B2)

LABOUR RELATIONSHIP: permanent contract

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years of experience for graduates; 5-6 years for diploma holders.

  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Multidisciplinary approach and curiosity in learning new techniques and skills.

HARD SKILLS:

  • Strong understaning of mechanical drawing
  • Base understanding of drawings Electrical/Pnaulmatic
  • Advance Skills in 3D modeling
  • Ability to read P&ID Diagram

LOCATION: Milan 

MOBILITY: Willingness to travel worldwide for missions lasting from 2 to 7 days.
