Welding Technologist

As Welding Technologist you will join our Department of Material Engineering, in the business line Energy Carriers, conducting the following activities:

  • Provide Metallurgical and Welding support to all engineering disciplines to comply with contractual requirements and with the updated technological criteria
  • Prepare and issue welding qualification matrix: base material (test ring) and welding consumables to be used for project Procedure Qualification Record and  Welder/Operator Qualification.
  • Prepare and issue preliminary Welding Documents (pWPS) for assigned project
  • Review welding documents (WPS/PQR), welding repair and heat treatment procedures issued by Manufacturer/Vendor/Mechanical Subcontractor.
  • Manage the welding qualifications phase of a Project through supervision of nominated subcontractor or by direct hiring providing the required technical support and liaising with personnel on-site up to the emission of Welding Book;
  • Work closely together with Saipem Home/Office Welding Engineer.
  • Work in team with Saipem Construction and Quality Dpt. and Joint Venture partners.
  • Review journals and technical papers for new welding technology. Maintain contact with welding equipment suppliers and consumable vendors to promote advances in welding technology

 

QUALIFICATION:

- Bachelor degree in Material or Mechanical engineering or Secondary Technical (Mechanical) School Diploma

- (Mandatory) International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT) Certificate

- (Preferable but not mandatory) NDT personnel certification Level 2 according to ISO 9712 and/or ASNT SNT-TC-1A for the following methods:

• MT (magnetic particle testing)

• PT (dye penetrant testing)

• RT (radiography testing),

• UT (ultrasonic testing),

• VT (visual testing).

 

KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE: B2/C1

LABOUR RELATIONSHIP: permanent contract

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years (6 years if not graduated) of experience in detailed activities

Fully aware of oil & gas codes: ASME IX; ASME B31.3; ASME B31.1; ASME B31.4; API 1104; EN 15609; EN 15614; EN 13480; AWS D1.1 and Naval Rules (IACS Member like: RINA; DNV; ABS; Etc.)

IT SKILLS: Familiar with MS Office and 2D modelling related software (e.g. Autocad, Bricscad)

SOFT SKILLS:

Strong customer/client focus.

Problem solving.

LOCATION: Milano HO. Availability to worldwide / remote area relocation
